Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 3, 2026

Welcome. This is a personal website, not a social media platform, and my basic approach to privacy is to collect as little data as reasonably possible. I do not sell your personal information. I do not want your data unless it is needed to make the site work or respond to something you sent me.

That said, this site runs on WordPress, and like most websites, it may collect some basic information automatically. This policy explains what may be collected, why it may be collected, and what choices you have.

Who we are

This website is operated by Jessica Thomas as a personal blog. The URL is https://www.jessicaathomas.com and you can contact me through the contact page.

What Information this site may collect

Depending on how you use the site, this website may collect:

  • Information you choose to send through a contact form
  • Your name, email address and comment text if you leave a comment
  • Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited
  • Cookie data used for basic site functionality, spam prevention, analytics, or preferences

If you just read the site, I may see basic site-traffic information. If you contact me or comment, I receive the information you choose to submit.

Comment Form

If you contact me through a form, I will use the information you provide to respond to your message. I do not use contact form submissions to add people to a mailing list without permission, and I do not sell contact information.

Please do not send sensitive personal information through the contact form. It is meant for ordinary professional or personal inquiries, not confidential disclosures.

Comments

If you leave a comment WordPress may collect the information shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on the site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit the login page, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

You can usually disable cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as expected if you do.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this site may include embedded content, such as YouTube videos, social media posts, images, charts, or articles.

Embedded content from another website behaves as though you visited that other website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you are logged into that service.

I do not sell personal information.

Some data may be processed by services that help operate the site, such as:

  • analytics providers
  • email or contact form services

These services process information only as needed to provide their functions.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically.

If you send a message through a contact form, I may keep the message indefinitely for responding, recordkeeping, or professional context.

Analytics and security logs may be retained according to the settings of the relevant tools or providers.

What rights you have over your data

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you. You can contact me via the contact form if you want to ask about personal information you have provided through this site.
